  Herriots
The main river entering Chew does so at Herriots Bridge. This is the shallowest end of the lake with often only a few feet under your boat. No bank fishing is possible at this end of the lake but the boat fishing in early summer can be excellent. The weed beds supply an endless food source for the trout and if you spoon your fish you'll often find snails, corixa, leeches, daphnia, buzzers, beetles. Almost all available food is found here. Sometimes it can be a quiet area for catching, but there are always fish here and a drift down the lake from the reed beds will usually find some fish. Well worth a try when other areas are crowded or not producing. No boats are allowed inside the line of white buoys in front of Stratford bird hide.
