This very shallow area is often one of the best places to fish in spring and early summer. Surrounded by deep water it seems to attract fish in all conditions and when the weed growths start in early spring it is a must for a drift whatever the wind direction. It's best fished with floating lines and nymphs or dries. The deep channel between the Island and False Island is a good area for bigger browns. These are almost always taken on sinking lines and lures but just occasionally you'll see one of these monsters cruising up a wind lane in the evening. Clouds of daphnia are often present here and a mini lure stripped back and 'hung' will produce some exciting sport.
