No bank fishing is allowed from the Dam and no boat anchoring in the area marked by the yellow flag buoys and Dam markers. A sheltered place when strong west winds blow but can be exposed to southerly gales. Sinking lines with various nymphs and lures often work well from boats in this area. From the Bywash floating and intermediate lines with nymphs and dries are the popular ways to fish. Often good hatches in evening. Beware when casting as there is a public footpath running along the Butcombe shore. Also beware of car thieves when parking at the Dam. Leave nothing on view in your car.
